Should I Have My Tree Removed?
In many cases, a fallen or leaning tree is an obvious indicator that quick removal is necessary. But what are the signs and symptoms you can look out for to know before you have an emergency on your hands?
- Dead or Hanging Branches in the Tree’s Crown
If you notice dead or dying branches near the top of your tree, it is time to call in the professionals. These large branches, sometime referred to as widow-makers, can cause serious damage or injury if they were to fall.
- Hollowed or Compromised Trunk
Hollowed portions of the trunk are a sure indicator that the health of your tree is compromised. You may also notice large cracks or splits when there is internal decay. What many do not know is that trees can live for years with this decay, but it is only a matter of time before that decay causes the tree to fall.
- Trees Close to Power Lines or Structures
Whether your tree is located and growing over your home or will soon reach the power lines above, there is the chance that it could need to be removed to prevent a dangerous situation. At minimum, regular pruning needs to occur to keep branches from hanging too far over your structure or from coming too close to live powerlines.
